Mrs. McPherson's Pre-K and K Class
Welcome to Pre-K/Kindergarten!
Welcome to the 2010-2011 Pre-K/Kindergarten class at Jacksonville Adventist Academy! I am so excited to begin a brand new year of fun-filled learning and growing in Jesus.
Parents, as your child gets ready to embark on this new adventure, you might be wondering, "Is my child ready?" or, "How can I help prepare my child for Pre-K or Kindergarten?"
While it is wonderful if they do, it is not necessary that your child enter either Pre-K or Kindergarten knowing all of their letters and numbers. Kids develop at different paces and our curriculum works to help students succeed whether they are just learning their ABC's or are already beginning readers. Most important is helping your child achieve important readiness skills that will help him or her become an eager learner and have fun at school. The people at Scholastic's Parent and Child Magazine have put together a great article which offers some tips for parents with children entering school for the first time.
I can't wait for a new year to begin! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions (904) 268-2433. It's going to be a great year!
God bless,
Mrs. McPherson

UPDATES
- There is no supply list for Kindergarten. I just ask you pay your supply fee by the end of August and I'll take care of the rest.
- Orientation night is August 5 from 4:00 to 8:00. There are two classroom sessions for those who have children in two different grades. If you wish to come to the 4:00 session, you do not need to stay for the late-session. Also, if you can not make it right at 4:00, you can stay for the later session. IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, please leave your small children at home. As much as I am looking forward to meeting them, I have found that it is difficult for youngsters to sit through both the classsroom and general-school sessions. Please call the school if you have any questions regarding orientation. As it is a required school day, the parent's attendance (Pre-K/K parents only) will count as your child's attendance.
